Shadow of Camelot
All that is holy in Durham
From her seat at Newcastle upon Tyne, the Abbess Bronwyn has carefully cultivated a peaceful, civilized image for the kingdom of Durham. As Abbess at the Durham Abbey and the shrine of St. Cuthburt, she was adviser to the last king, Ifford. When Ifford died without heir, Bronwyn forestalled any potential political strife by instituting a “theocracy”. While she may where the demure garb of a Abbess, she is quite a powerful leader. Indeed, the Durham court system that she established has come closer than all other attempts to imitate the justice envisioned by King Arthur. There is a small, standing army of knights and soldiers called to the cause of Christianity. The Abbess always errs on the side of caution, and while she will rarely take action on rumors, she is very actively aware of the political climate of the Isle. Her one goal is to maintain peace for the people of Durham.
