Shadow of Camelot
This area has barren highlands, peopled by small, but fiercely proud keeps. While the Romans attempted to occupy it in previous centuries, they met with heavy, largely successful resistance. Since that time, no one man has been able to unite this hilly, sparsely populated region. Instead, each of about a dozen castles in the region stand as defenders for the clans they protect, with the patriarch of each clan setting the rule of law.
The primary castle is Bamburgh, where Aedan the Cruel rules over clan Bamburgh. He has recently taken a beautiful, young bride, whom no one had ever seen before. She is rumored to be the cause of his recent blood lust. His enemies claim he steals their children in the night, and feeds them to his Baobhan Sith bride.
Pagan ways are largely observed. Christians are largely treated as foreigners and invaders. Missionaries are burned in Pagan ceremonies. Sir Lucan, of the Round Table, lost his life trying to help a troupe of Christian emissaries bring light to this guarded land.
